Design has more comedy in it than it looks at first sight. But while designers strive to solve problems, comedians use humour to bring attention to them. Why can’t the design process include both?

“A Designer Walks Into A Bar” is a fifteen minutes performative lecture that follows the life of Marta as she walks an audience through her struggles in trying to position herself as a social designer. Looking at design’s historic problem-solving approach through the lens of comedy, Marta exposes the catastrophic ways in which designers and their designed objects have failed us. Ultimately revealing her distinctive approach, that makes you both laugh and think.
